Attribution

Giving credit where credit is due.

Last Updated: April 24, 2020.

The purpose of attribution is to identify the creator, author, proxy or source of written material and the provenance of a work of art.

On the Elporia platform, we go to great efforts to correctly attribute our sources, even when it’s not required by convention or law.

For example, we have used materials (e.g., images, illustrations, graphics and / or photos) for our brands, including the Elporia website that state: “no attribution required” which we take to mean: the owners of the work(s) are releasing their creations into the public domain.

On the other hand, there are other sites that provide content we have used that make content freely available for use by individuals or commerical sites, provided they link back to and / or include a proper citation.

To avoid confusion, if, when and where appropriate, we have adopted the policy that we will append a “Credits” section to each of our pages that provide the following details:

Title: The title of the image, if so named and made available.

Author: Who created the work – this includes the name of the author or creator, including any handles used.

Source: Where the work being referenced is located – this usually involves the posting the name of the website or platform, together with a valid and up-to-date URL or hyperlink that points to a unique address where the content is hosted. Where applicable, we also provide a link to the author/creator profile.

License: How can the work be used and by whom – for the licensed works used by any of our online retailers, we list the terms and conditions that govern the use of the licence.

Modifications: What, if anything, has be done to modify the original content – in this case, we make a note if any of the works we are using have been: (i) resized, (ii) cropped, (iii) re-colored and (iv) renamed to conform with the Eploria and Partners’ website filenaming conventions.

Notices: When accessing or downloading materials for use on one of our websites, we pay close attention to whether or not there is a copyright notice – for the most part, we try to find images and graphics that have either been placed in the public domain or they are listed on the Advanced Google Search Engine with the following usage rights: “free to use, share, or modify, even commercially.” Similarly, we make apply use of quotes, with attribution and rely on fair use, when we are rewriting materials for use in our blogs and webpages.

Finally, if you have any questions about our Attribution Policy, please contact us so we can address your concerns.
